KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan women's tennis team improved to 3-0 after a double-header sweep of Ferris State and Hillsdale College at West Hills Athletic Club on Sunday afternoon.
The Broncos (3-0) opened up the afternoon with a 7-0 win over the Bulldogs. WMU earned the doubles point after wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Freshman

Polina Khotko gave Western Michigan the advantage with a 6-0 victory at No. 2. Sophomore

Christine Gouws clinched the point with a 6-3 win at No. 3.
WMU won all six singles matches in two sets, with
Lola Glantz, Khotko, Osborne, Gouws,
Audrey Smitek and Frazier all picking up victories.
Later in the afternoon, Western Michigan downed the Chargers 7-0. This time the doubles point was claimed after wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Glantz and Smitek made quick work of HC's Ane Dannhauser and Megan Hackman, 6-1, before Khotko and Sienna added their second doubles win of the day to clinch the point at No. 2.
Western Michigan's singles line up remained the same, but this time five of the six earned wins in two sets. After dropping the first set to Julia Zlateva 6-4, Smitek fought back to win the second set 7-5 and then win the super-tie-breaker 1-0 (12-10).
"The team showed great resilience today," said head coach Joelle Kissell. "Double-headers can really test you both physically and mentally and the girls did a great job to stay focused throughout the whole day. It was a great way to end the weekend."
Western Michigan is back in action on Friday against Grand Valley State at 12:30 p.m. The Broncos then head on the road to Notre Dame on Saturday for an 11 a.m. first serve.
