Boafo Collects Third Straight Shutout in 0-0 Draw at Central Michigan

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's soccer team earned a 0-0 draw at Central Michigan this afternoon. Lauren Boafo collected her third straight shutout in the game.

FIRST HALF
Neither team could get much going in the opening 45 minutes, as the two programs combined for just six shots (two on net). Maya Dean got one of those shots on net in the opening two minutes of the half, challenging CMU goalkeeper Allison LaPoint with a look in the middle of the net. She collected the chance and kept the score even early on.

A few minutes later, Abby Werthman had another chance for the Broncos. Her shot missed wide and high of the net in the seventh minute. Western Michigan's second shot on goal of the game came off of a free kick from Madi Canada. LaPoint leaped up by the crossbar to grab the shot.

Down the stretch of the half, Canada would get once more shot for the Brown and Gold. The two teams would enter halftime tied at 0-0.

SECOND HALF
Jen Blitchok got a chance early in the final 45 minutes, with her shot missing just left of the net. Just a few minutes after that, Sammi Glover took aim at net and had her shot miss on the right side of the goal.

Following those two looks, Central Michigan got its first shot on net of the game. However, Boafo was there to stop the attack in the 56th minute. After standing tall on defense. Glover and Meredith Vance each had shots. Vance had the best look of the two, missing wide right.

In the 68th minute, Heidi Thomasma nearly broke through for the Broncos. Her shot missed on the left side of the net. Not too long after that opportunity, Boafo made her second save of the game on a quality chance by Claudia Muessig in the 70th minute.

After some back-and-forth action, Jenna Blackburn had a great look on net saved by LaPoint in the 80th minute that led to a corner kick. On the corner kick, Blackburn had her shot blocked in front of the net.

Blackburn's effort would end up being the last shot of the game for either team, and the game would end in a 0-0 draw.
