Kalamazoo, Mich. – The Western Michigan University men's soccer team remained at #4 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll for a second consecutive week after a 1-0 home victory over #9 Northwestern last Friday and a 5-1 home win over Air Force this past Sunday.
In WMU's first match of the week versus #9 Northwestern, midfielder Carson Hodgson supplied the game-winning goal in the 47th minute of the Brown and Gold's victory over the Wildcats. In the win, the Broncos secured their second shutout of the season.
Later, in the Bronco's 5-1 win over Air Force, Noah James, Carson Hodgson, Owen Smith, Braxton Arpachinda, and Alek Markovski all scored for the men's soccer team. The group became the first five teammates to score in a game for WMU since September 14, 2019.
The Brown and Gold will travel to Nashville, Tennessee, for their first Missouri Valley Conference match of the year. On Sunday, September 15, the men's soccer team will face off against Belmont University at 2:00 PM.
