LONG BEACH, California -- TopDrawerSoccer named its Team of the Week honors Tuesday morning for the week of August 19-26. Today, redshirt freshman defender Christian Shannon was named TopDrawerSoccer's Player of the Week.
The redshirt freshman delivered in the 28th minute by netting his first collegiate goal (the game-winner) in WMU's 3-1 win over #14 University of Vermont last Thursday. Shannon would bury his goal into the Vermont net off a service from assisting teammate Owen Smith.
Shannon's TopDrawerSoccer Player of the Week selection marks his first ever TDS Player of the Week honor of his career.
Shannon and the rest of the men's soccer team will look to help Coach Wiseman claim sole possession of WMU men's soccer's all-time coaching crown this Friday, August 30, when the Brown and Gold returns to WMU Soccer Complex to host Akron University. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 PM. For tickets, visit wmubroncos.evenue.net/events/SOC.
