LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Western Michigan volleyball program has received the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award sponsored by INTENT for the 2023-24 academic year. Additionally, the Broncos earned the distinction of AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll, which represents the top 20% of GPAs nationally by division, for the first time in program history.
Initiated during the 1992-93 academic year, the AVCA Team Academic Award sponsored by INTENT honors volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA.
Western Michigan earned the Team Academic Award for the fifth consecutive season and the 11th time overall, 10 of which have come under head coach
Colleen Munson. Last fall, the Broncos set a new MAC volleyball record by having 11 student-athletes named Academic All-MAC, with

Logan Case,
Amanda Glanton,
Maggie King,
Madison Merz,
Keona Salesman,
Andelyn Simkins and
Abi Wilcoxson all earning the honor.
Additionally, WMU had four (Case, King, Salesman and Simkins) receive College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team accolades, with Case also being selected the CSC Academic All-America Team Member of the Year for NCAA DI Women's Volleyball and picking up her second straight CSC First Team Academic All-America honor.
