TOLEDO, Ohio – The Western Michigan men's tennis team downed Ball State, 4-2, in the Mid-American Conference Tournament Semifinals on Saturday morning at the University of Toledo.
The win sets up a rematch of the 2023 MAC Tournament Championship after the host Rockets defeated Northern Illinois, 4-0, later in the afternoon. First serve is set for 1 p.m., with live scoring available at

DOUBLES
The doubles point came down to a pair of matches decided by tie-breakers. WMU's
Ashton Adesoro and
Ferdinand Schlueter earned an early advantage after a 6-4 win at No. 3 over Eli Herran and Sajin Smith. The Cardinals responded with a 7-6 (7-1) win at No. 2 by Jacks Lancaster and Mason Tran. The point came down to the No. 1 doubles match of BSU's Nathaniel Webster and Vince Orland against WMU's
Anton Arzhankin and
Jackson Boone. After battling to a 6-6 tie, Arzhankin and Boone didn't allow the Cardinals to earn a single point in the tie-breaker, taking it 7-0.
SINGLES
Ball State tied the match up at 1-1 after Lancaster defeated Western Michigan freshman
Matej Kajzer in two sets 6-3, 6-2. Senior
Benjamin George gave the Broncos the lead back with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Webster at No. 1. Following shortly was Arzhankin defeating Orlando 6-3, 6-1, to give WMU a 3-1 lead. Smith got the Cardinals within one after a 6-4, 6-1 win over
Dimitri Moriarty at No. 6, but freshman
Ashton Adesoro clinched the match win for the Broncos. Adesoro battled Tran for three sets, taking the first one 6-0. Tran battled back with a 6-3 win in the second set, but Adesoro blanked him in the third, 6-0, to win the match.
