TOLEDO, Ohio -- The Western Michigan men's tennis team's season came to an end on Sunday after the Broncos fell to the Toledo Rockets in the 2024 Mid-American Conference Tournament Championship match.
Toledo took the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Hanamichi Carvahal and Poonthong Komolpisut defeated
Drew Evans and
Benjamin George at No. 2 to get the early advantage. The Rockets then secured the point with Adam Kovac and Charlie Snow defeating Asheton Adesoro and
Ferdinand Schlueter, 6-4, at No. 3.
The Broncos tied it up when Adesoro defeated Cole Cozens 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4. Toledo then made it 2-1 with a 6-2, 6-2 win by Matias Olivero over
Dimitri Moriarty at No. 6. The lead was extended to 3-1 after Komolpisut earned a two-set win, 6-3, 6-4, over
Matej Kajzer.
Toledo's winning point came from Pawit Sornlaksup defeating
Benjamin George, 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1.
Anton Arzhankin was up 6-4, 5-2 when the match was called.
Jackson Boone was tied with Carvajal 1-1 after sets of 4-6, 6-3, 3-3.
Adesoro and Arzhankin were both named to the MAC All-Tournament Team.
