LANSING, Mich. – The Western Michigan baseball team entered Wednesday night's Capital Clash with the longest active winning streak in NCAA Division I, but the Broncos saw their eight-game run come to an end in a 12-2 setback against Michigan State. The game was played at Jackson Field, home of MiLB's Lansing Lugnuts.

Western Michigan loaded the bases with one out in the first, but was denied after MSU turned a double play on a close play at first base.
The Spartans then took the lead in the bottom of the first on a lead-off solo home run.
WMU threatened in the second and third frames before breaking through in the fourth.
Dylan Nevar led off with a triple to right center, and then scored on an RBI double by
Greg Budig.
The Broncos put a couple of runners on with two outs in the top of the fifth, but could not take the lead.
Michigan State then scored six in the home half to go back on top, 7-1.
Budig started the sixth with his second double of the evening. He and
Cade Sullivan were the two Broncos to record multiple hits in the contest. With two outs,
Grady Mee notched a base hit to score pinch-runner
Ben Campos.
The Spartans answered with three in the bottom half and then tallied two in the seventh to end the contest.
