CLEVELAND – Western Michigan redshirt senior right-hander Brady Miller has been named MAC Co-Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. Miller is the second Bronco to earn a Pitcher of the Week award in 2024, as junior righty Turner Doran took home the honor for the first week of the season.
 
Miller set the tone for the Broncos in their weekend sweep of Miami, throwing 7.0 scoreless innings in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader. The Plainfield, Ill., native limited the RedHawks to four hits and compiled four strikeouts.
 
The redshirt senior found his groove in the middle innings, retiring 11 consecutive RedHawks at one point. Miami loaded the bases against Miller with one out in the seventh, but the righty got out of it unscathed to keep the visitors off of the scoreboard.
 
Hayden Berg tossed the final two innings behind Miller to close out WMU's second consecutive MAC shutout. The shutout extended Western Michigan's scoreless streak against conference opponents to 22 consecutive innings, a streak which got all the way up to 27 before it was snapped in the sixth inning in game two of Saturday's twin bill.
 
It was the third straight start Miller went 7.0 innings for Western Michigan, who ranks third in the conference with 50.1 innings pitched this season. Through Saturday's outing, Miller ranks fifth all-time at WMU in career innings pitched (269.0) and career strikeouts (227).
