MUNCIE, Ind., -- The Western Michigan women's tennis team clinched a spot in the 2024 Mid-American Conference Tournament after a 5-2 win on the road at Ball State on Sunday.

The Broncos (15-6, 6-2 MAC) are now set to return to the MAC Tournament for the first time since 2019.

Ball State took the doubles point with a pair of 6-2 wins.

BSU's Isabel Tanjuatco put more pressure on the Broncos, pushing the Cardinals' lead to 2-0 after a 6-1, 6-2 win over
Ariane Souligny at No. 5. Western Michigan then rattled off five straight wins to take the match.

Valeriya Monko got WMU on the board with a 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) win over Sarah Shabaz at No. 2. Sophomore
Audrey Smitek picked up her second win of the weekend at No. 6 to tie the match at 2-2. Smitek downed Ella Hazelbaker 6-4, 6-2. Senior
Lindsey Zieglar gave Western Michigan the lead with a 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 win over Annika Plaininsek at No. 1 before
Polina Khotko clinched the match victory with a 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 at No. 4 over Sydney Hrehor. Senior
Karin Hamilton added the Broncos' fifth and final point with a 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 win over Elena Malykh at No. 3.

Western Michigan closes out the regular season on Friday at Eastern Michigan before hosting Miami on Sunday for Senior Day at 1 p.m.
