Men's Tennis Rolls Past Buffalo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's tennis team improved to 5-1 in Mid-American Conference play after a 5-2 home-win over Buffalo at Sorensen Courts on Friday afternoon.

The win also improved WMU (13-4, 5-1 MAC) to 8-0 at home this season.

DOUBLES
The Broncos picked up the doubles point with a pair of 6-2 wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Jackson Boone and Anton Arzhankin defeated Daniils Snaiders and Finn Macnamara at No. 1, while Benjamin George and Drew Evans earned a win over Yu-Shiang Huang and Artem Aleksechuk at No. 2.

SINGLES
Freshman Matej Kajzer pushed WMU's lead to 2-0 after a 6-2, 6-1 win over Yuhan Jiang at No. 5. The lead then jumped to 3-0 after George earned a 7-6 (9-7) win in the first set over Aleksechuk. George was then given the win by default due to unsportsmanlike conduct by Aleksechuk. Arzhankin clinched the match win by the Broncos with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Snaiders at No. 2. Freshman Dimitri Moriarty added Western Michigan's fifth and final point at No. 6 singles with a 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-7) decision over Huang.

The Broncos are back at it on Sunday, hosting Toledo at 1 p.m. A determination on outdoors/indoors will be made the morning of the match.
