KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan women's tennis team picked up its first Mid-American Conference win of the season after downing Bowling Green, 5-2, on Friday afternoon at West Hills Athletic Club.

DOUBLES
Seniors
Lindsey Zieglar and
Valeriya Monko made quick work of Lucy Furness and Hannah Neumann, 6-1, at No. 1 to give WMU the advantage.
Polina Khotko and
Karin Hamilton then clinched the doubles point for the Broncos after a 6-4 win at No. 3 over Ionna Tsadari and Tia Clemens.

SINGLES
Zieglar put the Broncos up 2-0 after a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1 over Furness. Monko then pushed the lead to 3-0 after Monko defeated Tsadari 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2. The Falcons battled back, picking up points at No. 6 and No. 5 to cut the lead to 3-2. Hamilton opened her match at No. 3 with a 6-4 win in the first set. In the second set she battled Hannah Neuman to a 6-6 tie and then came back in the tie-breaker to win 8-6 and clinch the match-wining point for the Broncos. Khotko then added the fifth and final point for the Broncos. After dropping the first set to Clemens at No. 4, she came back and won the final to each by a score of 6-4.

Western Michigan now heads off to Northern Illinois on Sunday to take on the Huskies.
