KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan gymnastics team closes out the 2024 regular season at rival Central Michigan on Friday at 6 p.m. The meet can be watch live on ESPN+.
 
LAST WEEK
WMU hosted Kent State for its final home meet of the season, falling 196.950-195.650. Fifth-year senior Payton Murphy and junior Cassie St. Clair tied the program school record on floor, sharing the event title with a 9.975. St. Clair and teammate Halle Faulkner tied for first on vault with a 9.900 and freshman Makenna King won bars with a career-high 9.900.
 
ALL ON THE LINE
The Broncos head to Mount Pleasant with a chance to clinch their second-straight regular season MAC Championship. WMU is tied with Ball State and Kent State with 4-1 records in conference competition. Kent State competes against Bowling Green and Ball State competes against Eastern Michigan on the weekend. All three would share the title if all three win.
 
THAT MAKES TWO
Payton Murphy tied the school record on floor for the second time in her career last weekend against Kent State. Her first time earning a 10.0 and a 9.950 came last season against Eastern Michigan on Feb. 12.

STILL IMPROVING
Down to the end, the Broncos still continue to turn in season-best performances. Last weekend against the Golden Flashes, WMU turned in its top bars performance of the season. Western Michigan's lineup combined for a 49.175, just the second time the team has posted a score of 49+ this season.
 
ON TO MUNCIE
Western Michigan heads to Ball State next Saturday for the annual MAC Tournament Championship meet on Saturday at 2 p.m. The meet can be watched live on ESPN+.
