CHICAGO, Ill. – The Western Michigan men's tennis team extended its winning streak to six matches after defeating Navy, 5-2, at DePaul on Sunday afternoon.
DOUBLES
Navy took the early advantage after Luke Garner and Sasha Panyan defeated
Anton Arzhankin and
Jackson Boone at No. 1, 6-2. The Broncos responded with a 6-3 win by
Drew Evans and
Benjamin George at No. 2 before
Adrian Quiros and
Ferdinand Schlueter earned a 7-5 win at No. 3 to secure the point.
SINGLES
Evans pushed the Broncos' lead to 2-0 with a quick 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 6 over Zach Quattro. Freshman
Matej Kajzer gave WMU a 3-0 advantage after a 6-2, 6-3 win over Jason Kim at No. 4.
Anton Arzhankin secured the win for Western Michigan after a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 2. WMU's fifth and final point came from Boone in a 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 win over Steve Nguyen at No. 3.
The Broncos are off next weekend and open up MAC play on Friday, March 8 hosting Illinois-Chicago.
