AUSTIN, Texas – College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced its three Academic All-America Teams, which totaled 33 student-athletes. For the 2024 season, redshirt sophomore defender Christian Shannon was named to the CSC Academic All-America ® Second Team for his performance on the field and in the classroom. 

Shannon, pursuing a Pre-Business Analytics degree, was one of nine total CSC Academic All-Americans who earned a 4.0 GPA. 

During the 2024 campaign, the defender played in 21 contests and made 20 starts for the men's soccer team. In his 21 appearances, Shannon accumulated three goals. All three of Shannon's goals served as game-winners, ranked second on the team. As a distributor, the defender supplied three assists for WMU.

This season, Shannon earned a TopDrawerSoccer Player of the Week nod on August 27 and was later tabbed with MVC All-Freshman Team honors on November 12. On Tuesday, November 19, the defender claimed a CSC Academic All-District nod en route to his Academic All-America selection on Tuesday, December 10. 

Shannon's selection extends the WMU men's soccer program's record to the eighth consecutive year that a Bronco was named to a College Sports Communicators Academic All-American team. 

The Brown and Gold and Missouri State University tied for a Missouri Valley Conference high with one second team selection each for this year's College Sports Communicators Academic All-America teams.

To be eligible for a men's soccer CSC Academic All-America ® team, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore, claim a 3.5 grade point average, and have played in either 90% of the team's games or started in at least 66% of contests.
