VALPARAISO, Ind. – The Western Michigan women's basketball team will travel to Indiana to face Valparaiso University on Wednesday, December 4, at 7:00 PM ET on ESPN+. The Broncos are looking to win their first away contest in 2024 and move within one game of .500 on the season.
Last Time Out
On Wednesday, November 27, WMU defeated Cleary University 70-48. In the victory, graduate student guard Hannah Spitzley dominated on both ends of the court, scoring a game-high 19 points behind an efficient 7-12 shooting display. Spitzley would also grab seven rebounds, tally three assists, three blocks, and collect one steal in the win.
Scouting Valpo
The Beacons enter Wednesday's contest with a record of 3-5 with wins over Trinity Christian, Goshen, and North Dakota. After starting the season 1-4, Valpo has bounced back, winning two out of their last three games, with both victories occurring at home. Offensively, Valpo is led by fifth-year Leah Earnest and sophomore Javeah Jackson, who have combined for an average of 30 points offensively through eight games this season.
Series History
The Broncos lead the overall series 11-4 and enter the contest winners of four of their last five matchups against Valparaiso. Last year, The Brown and Gold defeated the Beacons 75-71 at University Arena on November 29. In the victory, former Bronco Kaiden Glenn notably buried a three-pointer at the buzzer to send the game to overtime. During the contest, Bronco Alum Kaitlyn Zarycki scored 32 points in the victory and tallied the ninth most points scored in single-game program history.
