WMU Picks Up Grand Rapids Native Brady Swartz

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's basketball team and head coach Dwayne Stephens have announced the signing of Grand Rapids native Brady Swartz to the program's 2025 recruiting class. Swartz joins Sharod Barnes (Ypsilanti) in WMU's class, with the pair set to arrive in Kalamazoo for the 2025-26 campaign.

"Brady is a great addition to our program," coach Stephens said. "He is a big-time scorer who takes and makes big shots. He comes from a basketball family and has played for a winning high school program. Brady has a bright future, and we are excited for him to get to campus!"

A 6-7 wing, Swartz is a product of Northview High School, where he was teammates with current Bronco EJ Ryans. Under head coach David Chana, Swartz and the Wildcats captured a conference championship in 2023 and have won back-to-back district titles.

Swartz is coming off of a junior season which saw him average 17.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game. He shot 60 percent from the field, 45 percent from three-point range and 80 percent from the foul line on the way to All-Conference, All-State and BCAM's BEST honors. Swartz was also named to the 2K24 All-Showcase Team.

In the classroom, he owns a 3.4 GPA and intends to major in Business at WMU.
