Men's Basketball Inks Carson Vis of Byron Center

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's basketball team and head coach Dwayne Stephens have announced Carson Vis of Byron Center has been signed to the program's 2025 recruiting class. Vis joins Sharod Barnes (Ypsilanti) and Brady Swartz (Grand Rapids) in WMU's 2025 class. All three are set to suit up for the Brown and Gold beginning with the 2025-26 season.

"Carson is a skilled player who has great basketball instincts," coach Stephens said. "He comes from a great program and is someone who can play multiple positions. We are super excited for him to join the Bronco family!"

A 6-3 guard, Vis is getting ready to begin his senior season for coach Taylor Johnson at Grand Rapids South Christian High School, where WMU all-time leading scorer David Kool is the Athletic Director. He has increased his scoring, rebounding and assist averages each year, with the totals reaching 18.0 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.9 assists during his junior campaign.

A three-time All-Conference selection, Vis added All-Region and All-State honors after his sophomore and junior seasons. He's also been named to MLive's Dream Team in each of his first three years and twice been selected to BCAM's BEST.

During his career, the Sailors have captured conference, district and regional championships, and were the MHSAA Division 2 runner-up in 2022. In the classroom, Vis owns a 3.297 GPA and intends to major in Business at Western Michigan.
