Case Picks Up Seventh Double-Double Against Falcons

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Logan Case recorded her team-leading seventh double-double of the season as Western Michigan fell 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-23) at Bowling Green on Saturday.

Case's seventh double-double of the season came on 30 assists and 11 digs. The fifth-year setter's distribution set Keona Salesman up for a team-high nine kills, while Anna Calcagno and Mary Clare Brusek recorded eight kills apiece. Andelyn Simkins led the defensive effort with 12 digs.
 
Western Michigan got out to an early 8-4 edge in the opening frame. Bowling Green answered with four in a row to knot the score at 8-8. The Broncos climbed into the lead again at 12-9, but another four-point burst put BGSU on top, 13-12. WMU went back in front, 18-17, but the Falcons then used an 8-2 surge to close out the first frame, 25-20.  
 
In the second, BGSU ripped off seven consecutive points to open up a 9-4 advantage. Western Michigan immediately responded with six in a row to grab a 10-9 edge. The Falcons then put together a 5-1 stretch to move back ahead, 14-11. At 18-16, Bowling Green used another 5-1 run to build the margin to six, 23-17, and put the frame away from there.
 
With the Broncos holding an 8-6 edge in the third, the Falcons rattled off four in a row to begin a 6-1 stretch which gave the hosts a 12-9 lead. Trailing 16-13, Western Michigan used a 5-2 run to work its way back even, 18-18. The Brown and Gold then nudged in front, 21-20, but Bowling Green countered with the next three to make it 23-21. WMU fought off one set point at 24-22, but BG took the next point to put the match away.
