WMU Men's Soccer Alumnus Makes Historic $400,000 Donation to Men's Soccer Program

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan University's Men's Soccer program has received a record-setting $400,000 donation from an anonymous alumnus of WMU and the men's soccer program, marking the largest gift in men's soccer program history. This significant contribution will be directed toward non-facility-related projects to enhance the recruitment and retention of student-athletes and staff. The funds will specifically support initiatives to bolster a championship culture and support student-athlete holistic development.

"As we enter a new era of intercollegiate athletics, external support for our programs has never been more important," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Dan Bartholomae. "What an inspirational day for our nationally ranked men's soccer program to see an alumnus of the program step up and make a transformational commitment like this.  We are deeply appreciative of him and his family, and I know our alums and fan base will join me in thanking them for their support."

The WMU Men's Soccer team has been on an impressive trajectory, highlighted by back-to-back Sweet 16 appearances in the NCAA Tournament, a 2022 MAC Tournament Championship, and the 2023 Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) regular season and tournament titles. This extraordinary gift will further enhance the program's ability to compete at the highest level on a national stage.

"This gift is truly game-changing for our program," said Head Men's Soccer Coach Chad Wiseman. "It will enable us to provide our student-athletes and staff with the resources and support necessary to continue our success both on and off the field. We are incredibly grateful for the generosity and belief in the future of Bronco Soccer."

Under Wiseman's leadership, the Broncos have secured 11 consecutive winning seasons, including three victories over top-15 opponents this year. The team is currently ranked #12 in the nation and riding a remarkable 35-game unbeaten streak. The Broncos are also the only unbeaten team remaining this season in Division I.
