KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan volleyball team picked up its second consecutive straight-set victory as it rolled past Kent State, 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-13), on Friday night.

The WMU attack had another good night, as it hit a combined .286 behind the distribution of
Logan Case, who handed out 35 assists.
Julia Marr paced the Broncos in kills for the second straight night, putting down 15 kills while hitting .353.
Mary Clare Brusek tallied nine kills on a .400 hitting percentage and
Madison Merz added five kills on seven swings (.714).
Three Broncos recorded double-digit digs, led by
Andelyn Simkins' 13. Case had 10 digs to register her team-leading eighth double-double of the campaign.
Carley Piercefield also picked up 10 digs for the Brown and Gold.
Western Michigan got out to a fast start and led 7-2 in the opening frame. Kent State came right back with five in a row to draw level, 7-7. Tied again at 12-12, the Broncos rattled off eight consecutive points to ignite a 13-2 set-sealing surge.
The Golden Flashes held a 9-7 edge in the second until WMU used a 7-1 run to move in front, 14-10. The visitors immediately responded with a four-point burst to tie it up, 14-14. Another 7-1 stretch put the Broncos back in front, 21-15, and Western Michigan kept KSU at arm's length from there to take a 2-0 match advantage into the break.
WMU tallied five of the first six points of the third set, but Kent State fought back to get even at 8-8. The Broncos then erupted for 12 straight points as part of a 16-1 surge which put the frame beyond reach.
Western Michigan hits the road for four of its next five matches, starting next Thursday, Oct. 17, at Central Michigan. First serve between the Broncos and the Chippewas is slated for 6 pm.
