Gymnastics Heads to Battle Creek for the Next Level Podium Challenge

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan gymnastics team heads down the road to Battle Creek and Kellogg Arena for the 2024 Next Level Podium Challenge on Saturday at 7 p.m. 

The Broncos (3-1) will compete against Illinois State (4-0) and George Washington (5-2). Live scoring will be available at www.wmustats.com. The Redbirds are the highest-ranked team in Saturday's competition, coming it at No. 29 according to RoadToNationals.com. The Broncos sit 36th, while GWU is 41st. 

Most recently, WMU was in action at the University of Illinois, picking up wins over West Virginia and UW-Oshkosh. The Broncos fell by .500 to the Fighting Illini, but individually saw wins on floor by Dani Petrousek and in the all-around by Payton Murphy. WMU's team score of 196.000 drastically improved from its season-opening win against Eastern Michigan, a 194.300.  

Western Michigan returns home next Sunday, hosting Bowling Green to open Mid-American Conference competition at 1 p.m. Tickets are available at www.wmubroncos.com/tickets.
