KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan men's soccer head coach Chad Wiseman announced that current redshirt junior Landon Fisher will help lead the charge in the 2024 season as a captain for the Brown and Gold.
"LD (Fisher) has seen it all through his time at WMU. He came here as a walk-on, was redshirted, and changed positions many times to help the team. He has won three championships and has been to back-to-back sweet 16 appearances. Landon played under some of the best captains to ever wear the armband at WMU and now it's his time! LD will be a fantastic leader!" Said head coach Wiseman.
This past season, Fisher matched a personal best 21 appearances and tallied a career high three assists for the Brown and Gold. Fisher was a key piece of Western Michigan's 2023 NCAA Sweet 16 run and supplied a clutch assist in the overtime win over Duke in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. His assist would help advance the Brown and Gold to a second consecutive sweet 16 appearance. The 2023 season marked the first time in program history that the men's soccer team would play in back to back Sweet 16's.
Fisher's experience and leadership will be a vital asset to the men's soccer program in 2024 as the Brown and Gold recently saw 11 graduating seniors in this year's class.
