Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Sing Sets Program Record in Win Over Wright State

DAYTON, Ohio -- The Western Michigan men's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to eight straight contests without a loss after defeating Wright State 1-0 Tuesday evening. Senior Dylan Sing would score the game winning goal for the Broncos in the victory.

For the entire contest, the Broncos limited the Raiders to seven shots, with only three on target. "We had a great road win and shutout tonight," said head coach Chad Wiseman, "We were dialed in and converted on our goals during the match."

During the 24th minute of the first half, Sing was able to knock one into the back of the net from an assisting Jonathan Robinson to give Western Michigan the early first half lead. Sing's goal would be his sixth of the season and the 23rd of his career.

"The set pieces we thought going into the match would have advantage proved to be correct. That was a great service by JR, and a great job by Dylan to put it away. Dylan is on fire right now, teams know he is and still don't have an answer for him," said Wiseman.

Over the past five games, Sing has entered peak form by scoring in every single contest. He has been averaging 1.2 goals per game over that time span and has seen dividends by earning MVC Offensive Player of the Week honors and was tied for 39th in the NCAA in goals scored.

As for Sing's teammate Robinson, he has been on a tear in the assist department by averaging one assist over the past four games. Currently, Robinson has four assists on the season and is two away from setting a career high during his tenure with the Brown and Gold.

"Our full attention is now on a top 25 UIC side, starting on the bus ride home tonight. They are off to a great start, having been playing very well. It's going to be a tough task to go into Chicago Saturday night, but it's one I know our boys will be up for. It has all the makings for a great Valley battle." Concluded Wiseman.

Historical Notes

After losing to #12 ranked University of Vermont on August 24, Western Michigan has now gone eight games without a loss. The Brown and Gold are two games away from matching last year's best unbeaten streak of 10 games, in which they recorded nine wins and one tie from Thursday, September 1, 2022 - Sunday, October 9, 2022. The program record for the most games without a loss is 11, which has been set twice: first in the 1983-84 season and last matched during the 2017 campaign.

This evening, Sing set the WMU record for the most consecutive games with a goal scored in program history with five straight. The record was previously set by Brandon Bye (2014-17) who scored a goal in four consecutive contests in 2017.
