Women's Soccer Ties Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Western Michigan women's soccer team came away with a draw against Bowling Green on Sunday afternoon. The tie moved the Broncos to 5-3-1 overall 1-0-1 in MAC play.

FIRST HALF
To open the first 45 minutes, Bowling Green was able to get three shots on net before Jen Blitchok found some space and sent a shot that missed just wide in the 16th minute. Following that, Bowling Green continued its attack, but WMU keeper Lauren Boafo and the WMU defense were able to stand tall as the game moved to the middle portion of the first half.

Blitchok got another look in the 29th minute, and WMU followed that up with a pair of corner kicks during the 31st and 32nd minutes. However, both teams would tighten defensively, and the two squads would combine for one shot in the final 20 minutes of the half.

SECOND HALF
Bowling Green would get the first two shots of the half before Drew Martin had a shot blocked in the 56th minute. As they did in the first half, both defenses continued to limit scoring chances. The game moved to the middle portion of the second half, and Martin had another look that missed on the right side.

Bria Telemaque got the Broncos' first shot on goal of the game in the 75th minute, as the WMU offense began to show promise. The Brown and Gold held the Falcons without a shot for the final 40 minutes of play and kept consistent possession in the attacking end.

With under 10 minutes to play, Telemaque got another look, but the shot was blocked by BGSU. The Broncos' last offensive chance came off of the head of Heidi Thomasma, but her shot went over the crossbar for a goal kick. The game ended in a 0-0 draw.

Overall, the two teams played evenly, as BGSU led in shots (8-7) and shots on goal (3-1). However, WMU did get more corner kicks (5-3).
