KANSAS CITY, Mo. –  United Soccer Coaches announced the NCAA Men's Division I college soccer players named to the 2023 Hermann Trophy Watch List Thursday. This year, forward Charlie Sharp was one of 37 athletes noted on the 2023 watch list.
 
The Hermann Trophy is presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club and is the nation's highest individual honor, recognizing the National Player of the Year as determined by the voting of Division I coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches. The award is the most coveted individual honor in NCAA Division I soccer and has been awarded annually since 1967.

15 men's players will become Hermann Trophy semifinalists following the completion of Division I All-America voting at the end of the fall season. On Dec. 13, the men's three finalists will be announced, and the 2023 winner will be revealed on January 5, 2024. For the finalists, a ceremony will take place at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis, Missouri. 

In 2022, Sharp helped lead the brown and gold to the last-ever MAC championship title after scoring a career-best 11 goals in 21 matches. Sharp's goal total was tied for 12th in the nation, propelling the brown and gold to their first 16-win season since 2017 and a Sweet 16 berth. This season, when Sharp scores his next goal, he will insert himself in a three-player tie with Tom Oatly (2004-07) and Mosen Khani (1979-82) for the third most goals in program history at 24 career goals. 

Sharp and the Broncos will open the 2023 campaign on the road against 12th ranked University of Vermont today at 6:00 PM. The match will be streamed on ESPN+, and the live stats and live stream links can be found under the men's soccer schedule.
