AKRON, Ohio -- The Western Michigan track and field team wrapped up competition at the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships earlier today, earning a 12th-place finish.
The final standings were: Ball State (108 Points), Eastern Michigan (105), Miami (96.5), Bowling Green (91), Northern Illinois (76), Akron (74.5), Kent State (67), Buffalo (62), Central Michigan (57), Toledo (46), Ohio (28) and Western Michigan (7).Â
After earning her spot in the 800-meter run finals yesterday afternoon,
Maggie Raab was able to build on that performance by placing fifth in the finals, earning the Broncos four points. She posted a time of 2:13.03.Â
The other event of the day was discus, where
Tess Van Dyk,
Lane Hagens and
Elli Stender competed. Van Dyk and Hagens were able to make the finals, with Van Dyk placing seventh and Hagens taking ninth. Van Dyk's top mark of the afternoon was a throw of 43.38 meters, while Hagens' top throw was 41.99 meters. Hagens' mark was tied-for-eighth place, but she finished ninth due to tiebreak rules. Stender concluded the competition by finishing 18th with a mark of 35.63 meters.Â
Overall, the seven points the Broncos scored came from athletes who were not seeded in the top eight of their respective events. WMU scored in the 10,000-meter run, 800-meter run and discus. Over the course of the three-day event, the Broncos posted 16 personal best marks.Â
