KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan softball team celebrated alumni day on Sunday at Ebert Field to finish up game two and three of the series against the Ohio Bobcats. The two teams entered extra innings and were edged in game one 13-11 before falling in the series finale, 5-1.

Alyssa Kramer bombed a three-run shot over the right-center field wall to send the Broncos into three extra innings. The home run marked her first of the day and fourth of the season.
Ohio took an early 1-0 in the first and added a pair of homers in the third to extend the lead to 3-0.
Courtney Farrish doubled to left field to score Kramer. A late-inning single by
Cassidy Brendtke scored pinch runner
Natalie Shuey for a 3-2 margin.
Western Michigan racked in five runs in the fourth to swipe the lead, 7-3. The Broncos posted a 1-2-3 inning for Ohio before adding a succession of hits to keep the bases and runs rolling. Young doubled and Hudson, Kelly, and Kramer all singled to score the first two runs of the five-run stretch.
Riley Chumbley then slapped a two-run single to score WMU's last two runners.
Ohio matched the Broncos in the fifth with five runs of their own. Bottom of the fifth,
Addison Hudson blasted a triple and brought home Kelly for a solo run to break even, 8-8.
The two teams were deadlocked through the next four innings, matching run for run. The Broncos and Bobcats split six runs in the seventh, WMU's three runs were batted in on the Kramer homer.
Despite two key strikeouts in the eighth and
Rissa Bajusz working the Broncos out of a jam in the ninth, Ohio took game two of the series with two-late runs in the tenth inning.
Western Michigan showed all four pitchers,
Autumn Godwin pitched 4.1 innings and allowed five hits and eight runs.
Rissa Bajusz worked 3.2 innings and allowed five hits and three runs.

Kramer scored the lone run for the Broncos on a homer over the center field wall in the bottom of the first. Kramer's home run marked the second of the day and the fifth of the season. Brendtke led the offense and went 2-for-3 at the plate. Farrish followed just behind at 1-for-2, while Kramer and
Jessica Young each went 1-for-3
The Bobcats jumped on the board first on two hits in the first. WMU answered bottom of the first when Kramer dinged the homer. Farrish and Brendtke added singles to challenge for the lead, but the pair was left on first and second.
Ohio struck again in the third bringing home another run on a double down the line and single to center field.
WMU fought hard through the fourth to retire the Bobcats in order. In the fifth, Ohio tagged a three-run home run to claim the series finale despite the Broncos' five hits.
Godwin and
Madysyn Lopez split the circle, Godwin pitched four innings, claimed one strikeout, and allowed five hits and four runs. Lopez pitch 3.0 innings as relief and allowed one hit and run each.
Western Michigan heads on the road during its last week of regular season play, first heading to Ann Arbor, Michigan taking on the Wolverines of U of M on Tuesday, May 2. The single game is set for a 6 pm start. The Broncos continue on the road on May 5-6 with a three-game series to conclude regular season MAC play against the Toledo Rockets. The two teams will face each other in a single game on Friday at 3 pm, followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, starting at 1 pm.
