KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan softball team celebrated senior day on Saturday afternoon at Ebert Field with a Mid-American Conference doubleheader versus the Ohio Bobcats. The Broncos fell in game one 7-1 before the suspension of game two due to inclement weather.

Payton Kelly scored the lone run for the Broncos in game one of the doubleheader. Kelly went 1-for-3 to claim one of three hits.
Alyssa Kramer added a pair of hits to go 2-for-3 and
Courtney Farrish registered an RBI in her three plate appearances.
Western Michigan was strong out of the gate and retired the Bobcats in order in the first. The Broncos pushed across one run in the bottom of the first when
Courtney Farrish reached on a fielder's choice to score Kelly after Kelly and Kramer kicked off the inning with a set of singles.
The Ohio Bobcats took the lead top of the second with three blasts over the fence. WMU held the Bobcats scoreless in the third and threatened with two on base in the bottom of the inning.
Western Michigan would tack on three additional scoreless innings for Ohio, including a second 1-2-3 inning in the sixth. The Bobcats brought across four runs in the seventh to extend their lead, to 7-1.
WMU was unable to get the bats rolling in the bottom of the seventh despite a duo of pinch hitters.
Western Michigan will resume game two of Saturday's doubleheader with Ohio on Sunday, April 30th at 11 am with game three of the series to follow 30 minutes after.
