KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan baseball team battled through on-and-off rain showers to secure a Mid-American Conference series victory on Saturday as it knocked off Bowling Green, 10-6. At the end of the sixth inning, the contest was delayed for an hour by rain.

Dane Armbrustmacher delivered another strong outing for the Broncos, as he yielded four hits and three runs over the course of six innings. The senior southpaw racked up nine strikeouts, his fourth consecutive start with at least eight punchouts. Armbrustmacher picked up his fifth win of the season, which is one shy of the conference lead.
Cade Sullivan led the way for WMU at the plate, as he collected three hits, scored three times and drove in a pair.
Jimmy Allen and
Greg Budig notched two RBIs apiece as well for the Brown & Gold.
Budig got the offense rolling for Western Michigan in the bottom of the second with a two-run single to make it 2-0.
In the third, Sullivan launched a solo home run to boost the advantage to three. It was the junior's team-leading 10th homer of the season, which made him the first Bronco in program history to hit double-digit home runs in back-to-back seasons.
Bowling Green hit a long ball of its own in the fourth, trimming the margin to 3-2.
WMU then posted a five-run inning for the second consecutive day as it pushed across five tallies in the fifth.
Josh Swinehart knocked in the first run of the frame with a ground ball, and two more then came in to score on a two-RBI single by Allen. Later in the inning, Swinehart scored on a passed ball and Allen raced home on a wild pitch to make it 8-2.
The Falcons trimmed Western Michigan's advantage back to 8-4 with single tallies in the sixth and eighth frames.
The Broncos pushed their lead right back to six, 10-4, on an RBI single by Sullivan and run-scoring double by
Gavin Doyle in the bottom of the eighth.
BGSU pulled two runs back in the top of the ninth before
Nick Crandell came in and closed the door for Western Michigan.
The Broncos and Falcons close out their three-game weekend series on Sunday afternoon from Robert J. Bobb Stadium at Hyames Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 pm.
