MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Western Michigan softball team fell in both games of Saturday's Mid-American Conference doubleheader at Central Michigan. The Broncos dropped a 1-0 decision and lost 7-1 in game two.

Addison Hudson and
Courtney Farrish each went 1-for-3 in game one. Hudson led off game one with a double to left field followed by
Payton Kelly's reach on a wild pitch to give WMU an early chance. Western Michigan posted solid defense through five scoreless innings, including an impressive 1-2-3 in the second and a pair of strikeouts in the third.
Both teams were limited offensively in game one, with Western Michigan collecting just two hits and Central Michigan totaling three. A lone run in the fourth was the difference-maker in the game. CMU used a leadoff single to left field and a walk to fill first and second. Alyssa Hollo singled to left field to bring in the Chippewas runner and pull out the 1-0 victory.
Junior
Rissa Bajusz gave a valiant effort in the loss, throwing six innings for a complete game and striking out 10 batters.
Central Michigan 7, Western Michigan 1
Third and fourth-inning runs from the Chippewas were too much for the Western Michigan softball team to overcome in a 7-1 loss in game two of Saturday's doubleheader.
WMU scored one run on five hits in the doubleheader finale as
Haley Boxwell went 2-for-2 and
Taylor Garey went 1-for-1.
Taylor Wolfe and
Alyssa Kramer also claimed hits for the Broncos.
Western Michigan's lone run was scored in the seventh inning when a leadoff single by Boxwell and
Taylor Garey single paved the path for the Bronco offense.
Bella Gerlach reached on a fielder's choice to load the bases just in time for another single, this time by Kramer, to score WMU's pinch runner.
Bajusz and
Autumn Godwin split game two and pitched three innings each. Bajusz allowed four hits, and two runs and tossed three strikeouts. In counterpart, Godwin threw one strikeout and allowed five runs on four hits.
Western Michigan (13-19, 7-6 MAC) and Central Michigan (20-19, 10-6 MAC) face off tomorrow in game three of this weekend's MAC series at 10 am.
