Women's Tennis Adds Sofia Balsera For 2023-24

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's tennis team and head coach Ryan Tomlinson are excited to announce the signing of Sofia Balsera to a National Letter of Intent for the 2023-24 season.

Balsera joins WMU from Tampa, Fla., and HB Plant High School. She is rated a four-star recruit by TennisRecruiting.net.

"We are excited about Sofia's decision to become a Bronco," said Tomlinson. "She brings a wealth of tennis experience and one of the best competitors I've seen this past year on the recruiting trail. I can't want to get her to campus and begin working with her."

Balsera is ranked in the top 30 in the state of Florida and in the top 50 in the Southeast region. She has a Universal Tennis Rating that has gone as high as 8.50. She is the daughter of Lisa Sobieray, who played collegiate tennis at South Florida, and Sergio Balsera.
