EAST LANSING, Mich. -- The Western Michigan track and field team concluded its one-day meet at the Spartan Invitational on Friday. The Broncos were strong in the field events, getting five top-10 finishes.
In the 1,500-meter run,
Maggie Raab placed 35th with a time of 4:59.47, while
Paisley Sipes was able to grab 55th place with a time of 5:19.65. In the unseeded race,
Alayna Ostling claimed third place by crossing the finish line in a time of 5:12.45.
The Broncos were strong in another distance event, with
Brooke Soper taking fifth in the 5,000-meter run. She posted a time of 18:12.36.
Delaney Knoll finished seventh in the event with a time of 18:34.04.
LaJeanee' Porter and
Madison Zarembski took part in the 800-meter run, with Porter claiming 30th with a time of 2:28.62. Zarembski was able to nab 37th with a time of 2:30.85.
In the field, shot put was a great event for the Broncos, as they landed three athletes in the top 10.
Tess Van Dyk placed eighth with a mark of 11.64 meters, while
Kennedy Hagens and
Lane Hagens tied-for-ninth with a throw of 11.50 meters.
Lane Hagens also took 12th in the discus, with a mark of 33.74 meters.
Anichka Malachi had a strong afternoon, claiming third in the long jump and triple jump. In the triple jump, she posted a mark of 11.20 meters. In the long jump, she was able to leap a distance of 5.70 meters. In the final event of the field portion of the meet for the Broncos,
Ashley Shipps was able to place 16th in the javelin with a mark of 19.81 meters.
Western Michigan will be back in Kalamazoo next weekend to host the Jack Shaw Invitational on April 7-8.
