KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's tennis team fell to Eastern Michigan, 4-3, at West Hills Athletic Club on Friday.
The Broncos (10-6, 1-3 MAC) got off to a strong start by winning the doubles point. Karin Hamilton and Audrey Smitek gave WMU the advantage with a 6-2 win at No. 3 over Andrea Quiroz and Linda Eloundou Nga. Lindsey Zieglar and Valeriya Monko continued their winning ways and secured the point with a 6-4 win at No. 1 over Sabina Brichackova and Prerna Vichare.
Eastern Michigan tied up the match after Daniella Shved beat Kaitlyn Rogosch 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4. Ariane Souligny put the Broncos back on top with a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 5 over Brichackova but Wanyi Zhang tied it back up with a three-set win at No. 3 over Monko. EMU pushed ahead with a win at No. 6 by Eloundou Nga and then sealed the match win with a win at No. 1 by Quiroz.
The Broncos are back at home on Sunday, hosting Northern Illinois at 1 p.m.
