ITHACA, N.Y. – The Western Michigan men's tennis team dropped its second straight match in its trip through New York, falling at No. 29 Cornell, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon.
The Big Red picked up the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 to put WMU in an early, 1-0, hole.
Cornell pulled ahead 2-0 with a win at No. 6 singles after Aman Sharma defeated Brogan Pierce 6-1, 6-4. The score moved to 3-0 after Adit Sinha won at No. 2 over Peter Kuszynski 6-4, 6-3. The Broncos got on the board with Jackson Boone earning a win at No. 5 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 and Fynn Lohse cut the lead down to 3-2 with a win at No. 4 over Nathan Mao 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. Radu Papoe clinched the win for Cornell with a victory at No. 1 over Anton Arzhankin 6-4, 3-6, 6-0. The Big Red added their fifth point with a win at No. 3.
The Broncos are back it again on Sunday morning, taking on Binghamton at 11 a.m.
