BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The Western Michigan men's tennis team snapped its two-match losing streak after defeating Binghamton, 7-0, on the road on Sunday.
For the first time in seven matches, the Broncos (10-8, 6-1) earned the doubles point. Peter Kuszynski and Ferdinand Schlueter opened things up with a 6-3 win over Ronin Lotlikar and Kyle Weekes at No. 1. Anton Arzhankin and Jackson Boone secured the doubles point with a 6-4 win at No. 2 over Aillia, Morais Binnie and James McPherson.
Fynn Lohse pushed the lead to 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 6 over Zubin Omar. Arzhankin added WMU's third point with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1 over Michael Pawlowicz, with Benjamin George earning the match-point with a win at No. 2 over Morais Binnie 6-3, 6-4. Boone pushed the lead to 5-0 with a 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 win at No. 5 over Dan Pegel. Arjun Honnappa picked up the team's sixth point with a 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) win over Weekes, while Kuszynski completed the sweep with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 3 over Lotlikar.
Western Michigan finally returns home to host Ball State on Friday and Toledo on Sunday.
