KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan women's tennis team heads down to Florida for a pair of matches over Spring Break against Tennessee State on Sunday at 3 p.m. and at Bethune-Cookman on Monday at 11 a.m.
The Broncos head down to Florida with a lot of momentum after rattling off five victories in their past six matches. The only loss came at Indiana last weekend, 4-0.
WMU's hot streak has been powered by a trio of newcomers in transfer's Valeriya Monko and Ariane Souligny and freshman Audrey Smitek. In singles play so far this spring, the three have combined for 20 wins. Monko has paired up with Lindsey Zieglar at No. 1 doubles and the duo is 7-2 so far this season.
Western Michigan will host Purdue University Northwest on Wednesday, March 15 at 1 p.m. before beginning Mid-American Conference play at Ball State on March 18. WMU's first three MAC contests are on the road, at Eastern Michigan on March 25 and Miami on March 26. The Broncos welcome the Eagles to Kalamazoo on March 31 at 1 p.m.
