COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) announced its final monthly awards, and sophomore forward
Max Sasson was named the Player of the Month. He becomes the second Bronco to claim that honor this season, as
Jason Polin was named Player of the Month back in November.
Sasson was incredible in five games in March, tallying 10 points on six goals and four assists. His best work came against Miami (OH), where he totaled seven of those 10 points. In the first night against the RedHawks, Sasson was able to help the Broncos claim a 5-0 win. In the contest, he posted four points, including a natural hat trick. That was his first hat trick of the season.
The following night, Sasson came up big in the closing minutes with Western Michigan trailing by two goals. The Broncos pulled their goaltender to gain an extra attacker, and Sasson was able to light the lamp two times to send the game to overtime. In overtime, Sasson found Polin for the game-winning goal. The victory gave WMU its best NCHC finish in program history. The Broncos finished second with 15 conference wins and 44 points.
Sasson recently signed a deal with the Vancouver Canucks and reported to Abbotsford (AHL) to begin his professional career. He made his debut last night against the Manitoba Moose.
