Sullivan Homers in Series Finale Against EMU

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Junior first baseman Cade Sullivan launched his team-leading sixth home run of the season, as the Western Michigan baseball team dropped the rubber match of its three-game series against Eastern Michigan, 14-3, on Sunday afternoon at Western Kentucky's Nick Denes Field.

Sullivan's home run was a solo shot in the bottom of the second inning, and was his second long ball of the weekend. The junior leads the Broncos in both homers (6) and RBIs (19) this season.
 
Eastern Michigan opened the scoring with a pair in the top of the first. Sullivan's second-inning blast cut the Eagles' lead in half, 2-1.
 
EMU put together a seven-run third inning to push the margin to 9-1. Western Michigan threatened in the bottom of the inning, but was turned away.
 
The Broncos got two runs back in the fourth, as Josh Swinehart collected an RBI single and Brendan Harrity drew a walk with the bases loaded to make it 9-3.
 
The Eagles pulled away with three tallies in the fifth and two more in the sixth frame.
 
Western Michigan begins a stretch of five consecutive games against Big Ten opponents on Wednesday, March 22, as Michigan State comes to Robert J. Bobb Stadium at Hyames Field for WMU's Home Opener. The Broncos and Spartans are slated for a 3:05 pm first pitch.
