KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's tennis team remained perfect at home this season after a hard-fought 4-3 win over Illinois-Chicago at West Hills Athletic Club on Saturday afternoon.

The point would be decided by two matches that went to tie-breakers. Karin Hamilton and Audrey Smitek tied it up with a 7-6 (7-2) win at No. 3 over Tamara Malazonia and Zara Ryan, but UIC pulled out the points after a 7-6 (7-3) win by Agnes Gustafsson and Ana Jover over Lindsey Zieglar and Valeriya Monko at No. 1.

Smitek made quick work at No. 6 to tie up the match at 1-1 after an emphatic 6-1, 6-1 victory over von Dungern. Monko pushed the Broncos ahead 2-1 with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 4 over Jover, including coming back from 3-0 down early in the second set. Zieglar played at No. 2 and earned a 6-2, 6-3 win over Malazonia to give Western Michigan a 3-1 advantage before Gustafsson picked up a win at No. 1 over Hamilton, 6-2, 6-3, to bring the Flames back within one.
