CLEVELAND – Western Michigan's Payton Murphy has been named the Mid-American Conference Co-Gymnast of the Week for her performance in WMU's win at George Washington on Friday.
For the second time this season, Murphy broke her own school record in the all-around after she posted a score of 39.525. Her mark also places her at the top of the Mid-American Conference. The senior tied for first place on beam with a 9.900 and on floor with a 9.925. Her score of 9.850 on bars helped the Broncos set a new team record of 49.325.
This is Murphy's third MAC Gymnast of the Week honors this season.
The Broncos return to competition this Saturday at 4 p.m. when they host Northern Illinois. WMU will celebrate its two graduating seniors Ronni Binstock and Charlotte Tiskoff during its annual Senior Day celebration. The meet can also be watched live on ESPN+.
