KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's basketball celebrated Senior Day with a bounce-back win against Ohio, 68-49. Brown and Gold took the lead in the third quarter over the Bobcats and did not look back. Prior to the contest, the Broncos honored their three seniors,

Maddie Watters
Hannah Spitzley led the scoring with 19 points while two other members recorded double-digit points:
Taylor Williams (18) and Watters (10).
Spitzley delivered an impressive performance to show off her shooting accuracy, making 6-of-9 from the field, nailing all six free throws, and sinking a three-pointer. She contributed to the team's defense with six rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
Williams joined forces, leading the team in rebounds with 11 while registering 8-of-15 from the field and 2-of-4 from the line. Williams also padded her stats with four assists.
Watters showcased her shooting skills, making 4-of-9 field goals, including two three-pointers. She recorded three rebounds, one steal, and a team-high six assists.
The first quarter leaned in favor of the Bobcats (6-21, 4-12 MAC), who led by a slim 9-8 margin after the initial 10 minutes of play.
Lauren Audino and
Maggie Stutelberg got things started offensively for Western Michigan, each posting a made three-pointer in the first quarter.
The second period of play included nine lead changes and six tie-ups as the Broncos and Bobcats as they traded basket-for-basket to score 16 points each. OU edged Western Michigan by one in the first half to lead 25-24 into the locker room. Spitzley led the first half, scoring nine points and Williams led the boards with five rebounds.
The Broncos were explosive out of the locker room, scoring 23 points in the third quarter while holding the Bobcats to just seven points. WMU shot 46.7 percent from the field, 37.5 percent from deep, and 75 percent from the charity stripe to register the best quarter of shooting in the contest. The Broncos displayed their three-pointers, draining another set of three on the day. Western Michigan recorded its best scoring run at 6:34 left to play with 12 points and saw its biggest lead heading into the final stretch at 18 points.
WMU secured the lead in the final quarter, outscoring Ohio 21-17. The Broncos shot 6-of-13 from the field, 3-of-4 from the line, and drained two threes to top off the day.
As a collective, the Broncos yanked down 36 rebounds and forced the Bobcats to commit 13 turnovers. Western Michigan also lead their opposition in points off of turnovers (22-10), points in the paint (34-20), fast break points (10-3), and bench points (14-5).
Western Michigan (11-16, 6-10 MAC) hosts the in-state rivals of Central Michigan on Wednesday, March 1st to close the home regular season against the Chippewas. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. on ESPN+. Wednesday's contest features a whiteout theme. Come wear white as your Broncos take on their rivals!
