KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan gymnastics team heads to Washington D.C. for a five-team meet at George Washington against the Colonials, Fisk, Ursinus and Bowling Green on Friday at 6 p.m.

The Broncos head to the Nation's capital on the heels of a record-breaking performance in their win over Central Michigan last Sunday. WMU combined for a score of a 196.750, breaking the previous record of 196.725 that was set last season against Michigan State. Western Michigan finished with scores of 49+ in each of the four events for the first time this season in the victory.
WMU heads into Friday's meet as the top-ranked team in the field, sitting 33rd in Road To Nationals' ratings with a National Qualifying Score of 195.670. The Broncos are the second-highest ranked team in the Mid-American Conference, with just Ball State sitting three spots ahead. The hosts, George Washington, are the second-highest rated team in the field at 37th with a NQS of 195.490 and a season-best score of 196.075.
Western Michigan returns home next Saturday at 4 p.m. to host Northern Illinois at University Arena. It's Senior Night for the Broncos, who will celebrate their senior class after the meet. Tickets are available at
