Men's Tennis Falls to Drake, 4-3

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's tennis team dropped a home contest to Drake, 4-3, at West Hills Athletic Club on Friday afternoon.
 
WMU (3-4) got to a strong start by winning the doubles point. Peter Kuszynski and Ferdinand Schlueter picked up a win, 6-2, at No. 1 over Matija Matic and Oliver Johansson to give the Broncos the early advantage. Brogan Pierce and Benjamin George clinched the doubles point shortly after with a 6-2 win at No. 3 over Olle Sonesson Lidholdt and Markus Bolin. Fynn Lohse and Anton Arzhankin had a 5-4 lead when their match was ended early.
 
Sonneson Lidholdt tied the game up at 1-1 with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Arjun Honnappa at No. 4 as the only two-set match in singles play. Johansson gave the Bulldogs a 2-1 leave after coming from one set down to defeat Kuszynski 1-6, 6-1, 7-5. The Bulldogs pushed the lead to 3-1 after Markus Bolin defeated Lohse 7-5, 4-6, 6-4. George earned a three-set win at No. 1 to bring the Broncos within one after taking down Matic 6-7 (2-7), 6-4, 6-1. Drake clinched the match after Jarvis defeated Pierce 7-6 (7-4), 6-7 (6-8), 6-4 at No. 5. Arzhankin picked up the match's final point with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 victory over Evan Fragistas.
 
The Broncos are back at it on the road on Sunday, taking on Indiana at 11 a.m.
