Charlie Sharp Named MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – United Soccer Coaches and the Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) have announced the 15 men's semifinalists for the 2023 MAC Hermann Trophy, based on voting by NCAA Division I Men's soccer coaches.

The trophy is awarded annually to the top player in men's and women's NCAA Division I soccer. Sharp is one of 15 semifinalists, with three finalists set to be named on Wednesday, Dec. 13, after voting by NCAA Division I coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches. The 2023 MAC Hermann Trophy winner will then be announced at a press conference at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis on Jan. 5, 2024, followed by a dinner to celebrate all of the 2023 finalists.

The forward from Brighton, Michigan concluded his collegiate career with 42 goals and 22 assists, which is first and third all-time in the program's history. This year, Sharp scored a career-high 19 goals in 20 games played (all starts). He would also tie his season best eight assists in 2023. As of today, Sharp leads the NCAA in goals scored (19), points (46), and is second in game winning goals (7).

Sharp became the first Bronco semifinalist for the MAC Hermann trophy since Brandon Bye in 2017 and second Bronco in program history to earn a semifinal spot in the MAC Hermann trophy voting.

The MAC Hermann Trophy is the most coveted individual honor in NCAA Division I soccer and has been awarded annually since 1967. Most recently, Duncan McGuire (Creighton) and Michelle Cooper (Duke) received the award for outstanding intercollegiate performances last year.
