KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's basketball team dropped a non-conference contest to St. Thomas, 65-51, on Friday evening at University Arena.
Anthony Crump led Western Michigan (2-5) with 12 points, his first double-digit scoring performance as a Bronco.
Jefferson De La Cruz Monegro was also in double-figures with 10 points.
Owen Lobsinger secured a team-high eight rebounds.
The Tommies (4-4) got off to a fast start, jumping out to a 14-2 lead in the opening minutes of the contest. A 15-2 stretch in the latter stages of the first half helped St. Thomas take a 41-14 margin into the halftime locker room.
The visitors upper their advantage to 46-14 in the early moments of the second half before Western Michigan began to mount a charge. With the margin at 49-19, the Broncos went on a 15-1 run to trim the gap to 50-34. WMU used a six-point spurt to draw within 13, 55-42, but could not get any closer.
It was a tough shooting night on both ends, as both teams were under 40.0 percent from the floor. Western Michigan connected on 39.1 percent (18-of-46) from the floor, while St. Thomas shot 36.8 percent (21-of-57) from the field in the contest.
