Women’s Basketball Adds Four on Signing Day

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Head coach Shane Clipfell and the Western Michigan women's basketball program announced the addition of four student-athletes on National Signing Day. Clipfell and the Broncos will welcome guards Alli Harness, Vinyet Morato, and forwards D'Myjah Bolds, and Sarah Rekowski to Kalamazoo.

"We love this class of 2024 signees, they are a very competitive group and we believe they have the type of work ethic that we as a coaching staff seek," said Clipfell Thursday, " I'd like to thank our staff who put in countless hours to do deep dives to find the right talent and making sure the character compliments the talent."

Alli Harness, 5'6 Guard - Carroll High School
Harness is a decorated athlete and owns many titles already in her career. The 5'6 guard will give the Brown and Gold an effective scoring boost in the coming seasons. Harness owns the all-time scoring record at Carroll High School enroute to posting an impressive 1,000 point scoring career. Harness was an ICGSA District #1 1st team recipient, an Indiana Junior all star in 2023, and a member of the IBCA Small school All-State team.
"We love lots of things about Alli but what immediately jumps out is her range as a shooter", complemented Clipfell, "Her range will open the lane for drivers and post play alike. She also has that blue collar work ethic that is hard to instill if it's not what you normally do. She is super competitive and has a laser focus about her on the court."

Vinyet Morato, 5'8 Guard - Joventut Badalona (club team)
Morato is another decorated addition to Clipfell's 2023 signing class. The guard from Barcelona, Spain, led her team (Joventut Badalona) to qualify for the U16 Spanish Championship 2022 tournament where her team finished 11th. Morato led her team in scoring, averaging 11.3 points per game, while also posting 1.3 blocks, 1 assist, and 8 rebounds. Additionally, Morato led her team in scoring during the 2021-22 season and helped her squad clinch the regular season title of Catalunya. Morato and Joventut Badalona would qualify for 3rd position in the U16 Regional Championship. Later, Morato averaged 11 points per game as a member of the U17 Joventut Badalona team during their 3rd place run at the U17 Regional Championship (2023).

"Vinyet Morato brings us size and versatility at 5 '11 and can play at point and off the ball equally well", explained Clipfell, "We love her experience in the pick and roll and she is also a versatile defender. She has played against older players most of her basketball career so she has a very mature presence on the court and that will help her transition to the college game".

D'myjah Bolds, 6'3 Forward - O'Fallon High School
Bolds is fresh off of a successful 2023 season after earning a state championship title and 1st Team all Conference honors this past season. Coach Clipfell spoke highly of Bolds noting, "We love the versatility and length of D'myjah. She can play inside and out and is a sneaky good passer into and out of the post. She can also guard one  through five which is something we like to be able to do. She will also help us on the glass and has the ability to bring it in transition".

Sarah Rekowski, 6'3 Forward - Hartland High School
"We are getting a strong, mobile center and someone we believe can become a dominant rebounder in our conference. She has good hands and feet combined with a great work ethic and those are great ingredients in a post player" said Clipfell, on Rekowski.

Rekowski joins the Broncos after a successful senior campaign earning a plethora of awards and honors. Rekowski's resume consists of KLAA all-conference honors, a Milford Holiday Classic all tournament team selection, all-league, all-county, scholar athlete, state bank athlete of the week, and all tournament team honors. Rekowski rounds out her impressive background with a resiliency award and academic all-state accolades.
