TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The College Soccer News committee announced for the week ending on November 19, 2023, that senior captain
Charlie Sharp was named the Men's National Player of the Week.
Yesterday, Sharp scored the game-winning goal in the Brown and Gold's 2-1 overtime road win over the 15th-seeded Duke Blue Devils. Within three minutes of the first overtime period, Sharp would rip a shot into the back of the Blue Devil net to propel Western Michigan to a swift overtime victory. His goal would send the Broncos to their second consecutive Sweet 16 berth and third overall Sweet 16 appearance in program history. His strike also marked a personal season-best seventh game-winning goal and a program-best 15th career game-winner for WMU.
Sharp and the rest of the men's soccer team will play in the Sweet 16 for the second consecutive season. This year, the Broncos will travel to Notre Dame to take on the Fighting Irish on Sunday, November 26, at 5:00 PM for their Sweet 16 match. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
