MISSOURI – The Missouri Valley Conference announced its players of the week Tuesday afternoon. For the second time this season, forward
Charlie Sharp has been named the MVC's offensive player of the week.
Last week, Sharp had the go-ahead assist in the first half of Western's 3-1 win over Northern Illinois University on Wednesday the 18th. The forward from Brighton, Michigan, also had the game-winning goal in the Bronco's 2-1 road victory over #10 Missouri State this past Sunday. With Sharp's game-winning goal in the 75th minute over Missouri State, he sits one goal behind Dan Edwards (1991-94) for a share of the program record for the most goals scored in program history (34). Sharp also improved the program record for game-winning goals with his strike against the Bears to 12 and counting on his career.
Over his last three games, Sharp has put up massive numbers totaling three goals and two assists for eight points, all while shooting at an impressive 37.5% clip on goal.
Sharp and the rest of the Broncos will return to WMU Soccer Complex for Senior Day on Friday, October 27, versus Belmont with an early 3:30 PM kickoff. Live Stats and livestream information are available under the men's soccer schedule.
