KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan volleyball team won its seventh consecutive match on Thursday night, as it dispatched Central Michigan 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-12) at University Arena. The Broncos improved to 7-0 in Mid-American Conference play, marking its first 7-0 start in league play since 1999.

Logan Case handed out 41 assists to help the Broncos hit .371 for the evening, their second-highest team hitting percentage of the season.
Anna Calcagno and
Maggie King were the two main beneficiaries of Case's distribution, with Calcagno putting down 14 kills on a .423 hitting percentage and King notching 12 kills while hitting .444.
Amanda Glanton and
Keona Salesman contributed eight kills apiece.
The defensive tandem of
Andelyn Simkins and
Reeghan Boyer both recorded double-digit digs for the fifth consecutive contest. Simkins led the way with 12, while Boyer was right behind with 11. The duo, combined with WMU's six blocks, helped limit the Chippewas to a .186 hitting percentage for the evening.
With CMU holding a 10-8 edge in the opening frame, Western Michigan went on an 8-1 run to open up a 16-11 lead. The Chippewas worked their way back to within three on multiple occasions, but the Broncos sealed the set with a 6-1 surge to go in front in the match, 1-0.
Central Michigan had an early advantage in the second set as well, 12-8, before WMU used an 8-2 stretch to move ahead, 16-14. The Broncos stayed in front until a 4-1 run got the Chippewas back level, 22-22. Western Michigan answered with the next three points, with King serving up one of her three aces on the night to send the Brown & Gold into the break on top, 2-0.
Ahead 8-7 early in the third frame, the Broncos reeled off 12 of the next 14 points, including seven in a row at one point, to surge into a 20-9 lead. At 21-11, WMU used a 4-1 run to close out the match and improve to 7-0 in league play.
